Although jewelry for men has become more
acceptable and popular, it isn`t until celebrities join in the trend that
everyone else is ready and willing to try it out. Johnny Depp, having established himself as a
great actor with a tremendous range, recreating himself from teen heartthrob to
one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood, is at the mensjewelry forefront. He has always
had a taste for rings, particularly manly skull rings, but he has expanded his
jewelry repertoire, and both fans and the media have taken notice.
Johnny`s ring-laden figures have added to
his appeal for years. It set him apart
from most men, and established a style that was all his. He began wearing skull rings even before the
"Pirates of the Caribbean" films.
On his 40th birthday, longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis gave him a
14-carat gold ring shaped like the head of a Cherokee as a nod to Depp`s Native
American ancestry. He also recently
acquired a solid gold skull ring by high-end jeweler Neil Lane.
Around his neck, he is often photographed
wearing a gold necklace with a diamond ring hanging from it. The necklace itself has a gold-set sapphire,
similar to the sapphire ring that Jack Sparrow wears in the "Pirates"
movies. Also hanging from the chain is a
ring set with diamonds.
When dressed up, Johnny also usually wears
a gold pocket watch and watch chain.
Among the jewelry for men that he only wears occasionally is a silver
cross bearing the word "Gonzo" in honor of his now-deceased friend,
author Hunter S. Thompson, whom Johnny played in the movie version of
"Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas".
His necklace collection also includes a Che Guevara pendant, a pendant
bearing the likeness of the Hindu god Ganesh, and several simple beaded
pieces. He has a leather cuff that he
has worn since he first started out with a small part in the movie
"Platoon", and a colorful beaded bracelet of hearts made by his
daughter, Lily Rose.
Johnny Depp`s jewelry collection is
actually apparently quite large, and he isn`t afraid to wear any of it,
sometimes stacking necklace on top of necklace and almost always wearing
several rings at once. He will wear his
skull rings with the child-like bracelet made by his daughter, and is often
photographed wearing his Jack Sparrow beads hanging from his belt loops.
Here is some news about Johnny Depp. Jennifer
Scarbrough, designer of Zia Jewelry, is proud to have created and produced the sterling silver and leather series ID bracelets, for
the benefit of the Children's Hospice and Palliative Care Coalition (CHPCC).

Johnny Depp doesn't sport all that jewelry
just to look hot. (That's just a by-product.)
In advance of his 45th birthday on June 9,
Johnny's Angels—a club whose members share both a love for the Sweeney Todd
star and a yen for doing good—is urging fellow fans to don a Children's Hospice
and Palliative Care Coalition memorial bracelet (which Depp has been spotted
wearing) in honor of the brave kids involved with the organization and the way
they've touched the lives of others.
Depp's wristwear is imprinted with the
phrase "Today Is a Gift...Have Fun," but other choices include
"Only Love" and "Live and Love It Up." The messages are
printed on a silver bar on a silver or leather band and 100 percent of the
proceeds go to the CHPCC.
"Thanks to organizations like Johnny's
Angels, more and more people are learning about the work of [CHPCC]," said
cofounders Lori Butterworth and Devon Dabbs. "With the support of Mr.
Depp's fans, we know that we'll be better able to make a difference in the
lives of children with life-threatening conditions and their families."
Johnny Depp, a man who has very little
interest in influencing fashion, is nonetheless leading by example, making it
much more common for men to express themselves through jewelry.
